My name is Mrs. Thibault and I have been teaching here at St. Michael School since 2008. Over the years, I have taught ELA, math, social studies and religion to students in grades 5 through 8. This academic school year, I will have the privilege of teaching the middle school math curriculum and working with each student as they master important concepts and problem solve. As part of the middle school team, I will work closely with my colleagues to ensure that the students are receiving a well rounded education. The curriculum follows the Diocesan and state guidelines. The resources used to deliver the material allows students to begin mastering the basic skills and developing a strong foundation needed and applying them to problem solve, preparing students for algebraic concepts when they are enrolled in the upper grades. As the sixth grade homeroom teacher, I am responsible for delivering the religion instruction where we will focus on living a life of love for Jesus.

Learning takes place in the classroom and outside the classroom, therefore students are encouraged to apply the skills they have learned to the real world situations. Students need to develop good study habits and prepare for assessments. It is vital that students complete both classwork and homework daily.  The assignments are intended to complement the class instruction and reinforce important skills students need to succeed, such as problem solving, critical thinking, reading comprehension and identifying main ideas and points of view.

As a Catholic school we strive each day to not only teach Catholic doctrine, but to deepen the faith of our students. Students are expected to lead a life of virtue both inside and outside the classroom. We foster their respect for human dignity and the need to live out the Catholic Social teaching daily.

It is important that the communication lines remain open throughout the year, since this will help your child to succeed. Please contact me with any questions or concerns you may have at sthibault@smsfr.dfrcs.org. Collaboration will allow each student to reach their full potential.

Therefore, you shall love the LORD, your God, with your whole heart, and with your whole being, and with your whole strength.
