Sierra Aguiar is a third generation graduate of St. Michael School, following the footsteps of her father Michael and her late grandmother, Helen.

“My Catholic School education will always be something that I am extremely grateful for. Between Saint Michael School and the support and drive of my parents, I was always pushed to be successful. They taught me wisdom and how to vision life in the context of faith,” says Ms. Aguiar.

“One fundamental that was taught to me specifically in school the ‘Value of service’. Catholic education values God’s word that states, “you are your brother’s keeper”. Hence preparing me for my future in Funeral Service. We were taught to always be sensitive to the needs of others and respond positively.” Ms. Aguiar is employed as a licensed Funeral Director for the local Manuel Rogers and Sons Funeral Home.

“A Catholic education is unique because it prioritizes community. The phrase “It takes a whole village to raise our children” is a true definition of SMS, I always felt positive, supported and confident that I was going to excel in the future. Prior to graduating, I was given the opportunity to continue my Catholic education at Bishop Connolly because of the support and push I received from two specific individuals: Sister Marie and Father Ed Correia. Because of their commitment and belief in me I was able to succeed tremendously in the years to come.”

Sierra’s favorite memories of SMS include Family Field Day at Nanaquaket,

In her years after graduating, Ms. Aguiar has received many honors, including the Pope Pius Award from the Bishop of Fall River and the Salt of the Earth Award at Bishop Connolly High School. She holds a Masters degree in Business Administration from University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth.
