Welcome to Music Class!

Hi, I’m Mrs. Shanna Lubold and I am excited to teach your child the joys of music! I have been employed with St. Michael’s Church and School for nearly nine years, and have been dedicated to the mission of our church and school. My joy of liturgical music began here at St. Michael’s Church when I sang in my first Christmas Mass at the age of 4.

“To sing is to pray twice.” St. Augustine reminds us in his writings that “a song is a thing of joy; more profoundly, it is a thing of love.” What a better way to open the hearts of the youngest Catholics to love Christ and His Church than through music?

WHY STUDY MUSIC?

Since the time of the ancient Greeks, humans have known that studying and being surrounded by good music promotes virtue in those that study it. If students are exposed to the truth, goodness and beauty in music, then they will be better equipped and more inclined towards living true, good and beautiful lives. Since St. Michael’s School is committed to training virtuous future saints, music is an integral part in that training, because it so naturally speaks to the human heart and so powerfully moves the will towards the good.

Sing to Him, sing praises to Him, tell of all His wonderful works!
— Psalm 105:2
