Welcome to First Grade!

My name is Ms. Breanna Ouellette, and I am thrilled to be your student’s teacher! I am an alumnus of St. Michael School, and believe in the values and quality of education provided at our school. We are very excited for your child to be a part of our classroom community! In our classroom, we will foster a community of learners that will develop as both independent thinkers and team members.

Students will enhance their strengths and improve upon their weaknesses to increase their learning and deepen their knowledge of each subject. Students will develop critical thinking skills, become creative problem solvers and learn to challenge themselves through fostering a growth mindset, all while becoming an independent reader, author, illustrator, scientist, historian and mathematician! They will also learn to be team members working toward living a virtuous life with the common goal of our Heavenly Home.

To help your child accomplish these goals, some basic skills and study habits will need to be in place. Please work with your child on improving handwriting and reading books throughout the year. Encourage them to complete their homework and read daily. Stress the importance of school and homework. Read together as a family. There are many fun ways to incorporate learning throughout the day. Play games together. Let them count money for you. Count to 120 while riding in the car. Take a walk together and identify the address numbers of the homes in the neighborhood. These suggestions will help foster a love of learning all while spending quality time together.
