HELLO, AND WELCOME TO KINDERGARTEN!

HOL_0095.JPG

My name is Mrs. Klein and I am beyond excited to be your child’s kindergarten teacher!

My main focus this year is instilling a sense of belonging where every student is cared for by both their teachers and their classmates. Our kindergarteners learn the joys and responsibilities of being a part of the Saint Michael School community. What sets us apart from other schools is the fact that we believe in the power of education and the strength of our faith. I focus not only on academics, but I am here to guide your child to learn about faith, love, charity, and community.

This is your child’s first experience with formal education, it will be challenging, but know that I am their biggest fan. I will help them to understand that it is okay to not understand something, or get the wrong the answer, because at the end of the day we all learn through our mistakes. I will encourage them to share their thinking, and help them to understand the correct answer. Since this primary year provides a foundation for success in the grades that follow, it is very crucial that a kindergarten teacher is dedicated to bringing out the best in each of her students, which is of the utmost importance to me. In my classroom they will solidify their letter and number recognition, enhance their writing skills, and will be introduced to site words which will enable them to begin to read by the end of the year.

We have a wonderful math program called Eureka math, which we will utilize everyday. They will enhance their math skills, and begin to be introduced to both addition and subtraction. They will stimulate their problem solving abilities and be exposed to more advanced concepts, such as measurement, fractions, and many more math applications. Providing a place where each student feels safe, and loved will help to maintain a well-run classroom that supports independent learning. I will closely monitor their interactions to foster healthy cooperation and sharing. It is my goal to identify each child’s unique talents and abilities and help them to reach their full potential. This classroom is a kind and respectful community dedicated to supporting each child’s journey in becoming a lifelong learner. My role as their kindergarten teacher is to provide various learning activities and opportunities that will aid in the development of each student and help to build in them the ability and desire to always be open to new experiences as they continue their journey here at SMS.

I truly believe that communication is the key to your child’s success.  A collaborative, and cooperative partnership is extremely crucial and I encourage you to contact me should you have any questions or concerns at any time. This year promises to be one for the books!
