Week 2: Labor Day weekend

9/8/2011

Dear Parents and Students,

You will find updates about the week’s homework on individual class pages. Please help your students achieve their homework goals.

As a quick reminder to Parents, we have a Parent Meeting scheduled for next Wednesday, Sept. 14 @7pm.

I look forward to meeting all of you!

Thank you,

Ms. Pontes

September already

Dear Families,

I just wanted to have an opportunity to explain some of the items we covered during this first week. I was very happy to finally meet the students. Our first week was spent getting to know each other through various activities and familiarizing ourselves with our classroom and texts. Our middle school students also participated in some Buddy Projects. Students from the middle school were partnered with one or two of the elementary school students to work on Art projects these past two days. Their cooperation, patience, and energy with the younger students was great to see and I thank them for their participation.

Please help your students cover their textbooks this weekend–book sox work best! Here’s a link to view Book Sox at Staples.

Also as a notice our 6th graders will be having Gym every Tuesday and Thursday, beginning next week.

This week no homework was distributed to my  5-8 Social Studies students. We began with introductions to the text and some recalling of previous learning to get our minds back in gear.

For now, have a wonderful and safe labor day weekend!

God Bless,

Ms. Pontes

First Day!

Welcome to Grade 6:

Religion and Social Studies!

Together we’ll be exploring the globe through some interactive activities.

Our faith will also lead us strong as we learn how our Catholicity affects our lives and our world. Building up the foundation of faith one block at a time.

Our school year will reflect on the Gandhi’s inspirational words “Be the change you wish to see in the world” in both Religion and Social Studies.
