I would like to take a moment to Thank all of my 3rd grade students for a first fun -filled week back to school. Considering we had a HEAT WAVE and were all very warm, we all worked well together in listening to our friends and teachers. It was a pleasure getting to meet each one of you and this has only been the beginning of our learning journey together.
Hopefully the upcoming week will bring us cooler weather PLEASE!!
Back to School Information……..

Due to the warm weather, please be sure to send plenty of water in with your child. I ask that the water be in a sports bottle in order to prevent spillage. No soda or juice of any kind will be allowed in the classroom.
It is very important that all student items are clearly labeled with their name and grade. (Lunch boxes, sweaters, gym sweatshirts) This will make it easier to recover these items if misplaced.
Your child will be going home with a weekly news folder from the office on Mondays. (burgandy folder) It is extremely important that this folder be returned to school on the following day, since important paper work is given and needs to be returned back as soon as possible.

Homework will be given Monday through Thursday and occasionally on a Friday. Students are expected to come to class prepared with all necesary supplies to begin their day. Pencil cases were given to students on the first day of school with supplies (pencils, erasers, colored pencils, crayons, scissor, as well as note books and folders necessary) however, students will need to replenish their cases as necessary. It is very important that students have PLENTY of pencils to write with. PEN is not allowed other that a red pen to correct when OK with teacher. If students are not prepared for class, consequences will follow!
Behavior-Your child will be getting a weekly behavior chart. This chart is to be kept in their homework folder, signed on Thursday by a parent or guardian and returned to school on Friday. More information on behavior will be provided to parents at Parent Open House in September.

Scholastic Book Club- I will send home a monthly book order. Students are encouraged to purchase chapter books through the book club as they are much cheaper than purchasing through a book store. Teacher will earn points to order free books for the classroom library with every student purchase. Orders will usually be due back to school within a week. Please make checks payable to SCHOLASTIC BOOKS. (CHECKS OR MONEY ORDERS PLEASE)
Classroom Supplies……
In order to keep our classroom germ-free, I am kindly asking that each child contribute several items to the classroom (if possible): a box of tissues, hand sanitizer, clorox wipes, a roll of paper towels, and baby wipes. These items will be greatly appreciated and will hopefully prevent the spread of germs. Thank you for your cooperation and all you do for SMS students!
