Academics

July 23rd, 2010

Religion is a central part of our school program. The School Community gathers together for prayer each morning and at the end of the school day.  Liturgy is celebrated on major feast days as well as once a week during the Lenten Season.
The school also provides a full academic program which follows the Diocesan Curriculum of the Fall River Diocese.  These learning outcomes are based on the Massachusetts State Standards and can be found at the Diocesan website www.dfrcec.com

In addition to the core curriculum classes are also provided in Art, Music, Computer and Physical Education for all students in grades PreKindergarten through grade 8.

All classrooms are equipped with both Internet and Cable access.  In addition to computer access in each classroom, there is a fully equipped computer lab and laptops in our resource room .

Students in all grades participate in educational field trips which have included visits to the Mystic Aquarium, Southwick Zoo, as well as Museums located in the Boston area.
Classes also participate in community sponsored programs. These programs include those provided through the District Attorney’s Office , Junior Achievement and Saint Anne’s Hospital.

Saint Michael School has a federally funded  hot lunch program sponsored by the Swansea School Department.

In addition to our regular school day, Saint Michael School provides Extended Care before and after school each day.
